About TexHealth Central Texas

Uninsured population in Travis, Burnet, Hays, and Williamson counties

Developed By and For Central Texas Small Businesses

Currently, more than two-thirds of Texas’ small businesses don’t offer health coverage to their employees. TexHealth Central Texas is a community-based nonprofit organization created by, and for, Central Texas businesses, which offers a low-cost health benefits program in Central Texas.

TexHealth was launched with the assistance of Central Health, Hays County Commissioners and the Austin Community Foundations.

What makes this program different from other Health Benefits Plans?

TexHealth is an innovative 3-Share Plan that offers premium assistance to pay part of the monthly cost for employees earning $15.71 per hour or less.*  As the 3-Share name implies, the cost of the program is split between the employer, employee, and TexHealth. The TexHealth share reduces the cost from $269 to $169 per month and the employer and qualifying employee pay only $84.50 each. Even if you or your employee earns more than the grant-qualifying $15.71 per hour, you are still eligible to enroll in TexHealth program but will not be eligible for the grant.

This new 3-Share approach was developed specifically for small local businesses that have wanted to offer health benefits but have been unable to do so.
